Solitaire

Solitaire
Set in 1998, Solitaire follows the story of four young men growing up on the wrong side of the tracks in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Without good role models in their lives, they turn to a life of petty crime, stealing video tapes. Eventually they are tricked into stealing a box of signed TITANIC tapes, but discover that it contains $250,000 worth of heroin. Bad turns to worse, and one of the boys is arrested. Protagonist Ritchie finally comes to terms with the loss of his father, and finally makes the right choices about what to do with his life.

I enjoyed working with Christian again, after a long hiatus since EXTRA CREDIT (2004). I really liked the feel of this film. The interplay between the young stars seemed very real to me. This movie called out for a street-hip score with a throaty saxophone, and some urban rythms, and I had a great time creating them. The premiere in Providence was a great evening, and I hope that this film goes places.
